Adventure Rock (Mountain Village/Telluride)

posted Friday June 29, 2007

June 24, July 1, July 15, July 29, August 12, and August 26, 2007
4 to 6 PM

BoulderingNow here’s a free event that really rocks!  Perhaps you’ve seen an artificial rock climbing wall — people wear harnesses, tie in to a top-rope, and climb up plastic “holds” while being belayed.  Climbing walls provide a simulation of outdoor rock climbing.  There are also climbing walls where you don’t use a rope, stay relatively close to the ground, and move vertically but also horizontally from hold to hold.  This is a simulation of the related sport of bouldering, which is done on — that’s right — boulders!

Show off your bouldering skills on a Bouldering Wall located at Conference Center Plaza in Mountain Village.  The Adventure Rock competitions run from 4 to 6 PM on on June 24, July 1, July 15, July 29, August 12, and August 26, 2007.  You can even take a FREE gondola ride up to Mountain Village from Telluride.

Shoes and chalk are provided in case you left them at home.  Trust me, you won’t stand a chance trying this in a pair of old sneakers unless you happen to be John Gill.
