Elk Fest (Estes Park)
September 30 and October 1, 2006
10 AM – 5 PM Saturday; 10 AM – 4 PM Sunday
Even if you don’t think you can bugle like an elk, you can still have a fun and informative time at the Elk Fest held at Bond Park in the town of Estes Park.  Visitors to nearby Rocky Mountain National Park know that you can easily observe Elk by the hundreds this time of year. This festival will give you a chance to learn more about the Elk breeding season; representatives from the Park will present a seminar appropriately titled “The Rut.”
There will also be Native American storytelling, dancing, and music, more music by the Elktones (we aren’t making this up), a Mountain Man Rendezvous, wolf exhibits, and a seminar on Elk management and biology.Â
And then there’s the dreaded Bugling Contest.
In the “not for free” category, there will be plenty of vendors selling wildlife photography, paintings, jewelry, antler furniture, clothing, and food. Of course, you can “window shop” at the booths for free!
For more information, visit the festival website, or call 970 586-6104 for more information.
