Candy is even sweeter when it’s free!
I’ve been sitting at my computer all afternoon, and I’m hungry for something sweet. Aha! Free candy!
Here on the Western Slope, I’m planning on heading over to the Russell Stover outlet store, located by the chocolate factory in Montrose. They don’t offer an actual tour of the factory (except on a video that plays in the outlet store), but I don’t really mind. Instead, employees have opened up some of the boxes of chocolates and other candies around the store, and shoppers may sample the goodies for free.
You can see me picking up a delicious-looking piece of chocolate in the Denver Post. And yes, it was even better tasting than it looked!![]()
For those of you closer to Denver, fear not. I haven’t forgotten about you. Hammond’s Candies has been making homemade candy canes, lollipops, traditional hard candy, and chocolates since 1920. Head over to their factory for a tour, and they’ll give you some free samples to enjoy as well!
So many chocolates, so little time.
